• The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Problem with DNS redirect on subdomain

Andrew_Pa

Regular Pleskian
Hi

I am using Plesk for about 2 years and usually if I have some trouble I find the solution in this forum. But now I have a weird problem so I would like your help.

The past 2 years I had a website on a Plesk 9.X server. There I also had a subdomain which was my blog. Because my blog is on blogger (google), The only thing I had done was to added a CNAME on DNS settings and everything works perfectly, when I hit the subdomain it redirect to my blog on blogger.

Before a few days I transfer my website to a new server with Plesk 10.4.4 ( update #24 ). My website works perfectly but my blog doesn't.
I tried the following things :
1) I add a subdomain and I add a CNAME record in main domain DNS settings, with the value : ghs.google.com. ( not in subdomain DNS settings ) -> Nothing happens in the next 24 hours

2) I change all the A records of subdomains DNS settings with some IP I found on the net for google -> Nothing happens in the next 24 hours

3) I delete the subdomain and I left a CNAME record in the main domain DNS settings -> Nothing happens in the next 24 hours

Can you help me to solve my problem. What should I do? Should I create a subdomain ? If yes then where should I add the CNAME record ? OR just a CNAME record is fine to redirect my subdomain to the blogger site?

My website is www.enor.gr and my blog is blog.enor.gr

Thanks on advance

Really, there are exists some type of post-upgrade/migration errors when custom DNS records with external IPs doesn't work correctly after migration. We have some KB articles regarding this problem. For example - http://kb.parallels.com/en/113065
Did you see difference in DNS zone records for your subdomain before and after migration?

Thank you very much for your answer.

I double ckeck the DNS settings but I don't see anything wrong. I also ckeck /etc/named.conf but everything seems fine.

On the old server the only thing I have done is to add a DNS record. But there on DNS settings there were only a group of settings for the domain.

Now on the new server there are group settings for the domain and for each subdomain I have. If I went to the subdomain DNS settings and add : Record Type : CNAME , Domain Name : .blog.enor.gr , Canonical name : ghs.google.com , An error appear "CNAME DNS zone record cannot coexist with other DNS records in the same zone." . So I add the above configuration in the main domain DNS settings.

Should I check something else? Is there a workaround?

Finally I found a simple workaround. I deleted the domain and I recreated again. Now everything works fine!

Thank you very much for your help!
