proFTP drives me crazy!

New Pleskian
Hi,

I'm quite new to plesk, but not to the terms of working with q webserver or launching websites. And there is the issue of "I didn't set up the system, I inherited the job" so my predecessor left no real documentation about a few things here.
So, back to my problem with proFTP.
I know proFTP doesn't have own users. It uses the system users as ftp users, but I can't determinate how to get ftp running. There is no way to configure the ftp-server, only the webinterface. Also I can't connect to the server via ssh (putty)
I'm using plesk 12.0.8 on a vServer running Ubuntu 14.04.4

Thankx
Xande
