Hi all,
From time to time hotmail blocks our IP's access to its mail exchangers of some of our servers.
and here is the reason;
https://postmaster.live.com/snds/FAQ.aspx#nRcpt
RCPT commands
This is the number of RCPT commands sent by the IP during the time period in question. RCPT commands are part of the SMTP protocol used to send mail, specifically that which specifies one's intent to send mail to the provided recipient. That is, the command "RCPT TO:<[email protected]>" requests Windows Live Mail's servers to respond with whether it will accept mail for [email protected], information which is invaluable to spammers trying to compile recipient lists for future spamming. For reference, more than a third of IPs sending mail to Windows Live Mail keep the fraction of RCPT commands that don't result in message recipients under 10% and that is a good benchmark to measure against.
we track our smtp servers hotmail activity from https://postmaster.live.com/
and we observe that whenever an email message sent with bcc or cc to other hotmail recipients more that 40+ then hotmail blocks this IP for 2-3 days

Qmail does not have Max Recipients directive to set, and a client can add 1000s recipients to an email which is not logic.
Also sending mail via php which is handled by qmail-inject overwrites the header set by php script whatever you do mail is sent from [email protected] so when it is bounced it is redirected to [email protected] which is indeed annoying. It is possible to set headers correct headers but how can we correct 100's of clients scripts.
Qmail also misses relay inspectiona before injecting to que , if you whitelist 127.0.0.1 then any from address can be used to send outbound email i.e clients can use your server and send message from [email protected]. However most modern MTA's do check whether the from adress is also present in their user db or not. It is so simple to check. ok 127.0.0.1 can relay but originator claiming to be [email protected] should not be relayed if it is not a defined user in user db.
we are in mid- 2007 and qmail is not working any more!! Patching is not a solution , plesk version is lacking mandatory inspections that a modern MTA must have. I cant believe that plesk still insists on qmail... Why wmail? mail accounts are kept in db any mail server should work!!! it should just be a one day implenetation.
