RBL ping

Does anyone know a way of regularly pinging the RBLs in ones RBL list and then, depending on the status of the RBL, disabling or enabling it in x.inetd/Plesk ?

It would be nice to automatically remove a particular RBL when it goes offline since it can cause problems with q-mail.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
