Recompiling PHP for SQL Server support

I have a website hosted in Plesk (Linux / CentOS) that uses MS SQL Server as the database on a different server (to work with their internal systems).

What is the safest way to install MS-SQL support on PHP and re-compile PHP (with mssql support) without breaking PHP for any other website hosted on Plesk?

Ive got MSSQL support in the php rpms in my archive. You add the archive with:

wget -q -O - http://www.atomicorp.com/installers/atomic |sh

and set up php-mssql

yum install php-mssql
