• Debian 11 is approaching its end-of-life (vendor EOL date - August 31, 2026). Plesk Obsidian 18.0.80 will be the last release to support it.
If you are running Plesk Obsidian on Debian 11, we recommend you upgrade those servers to Debian 12 using our dist-upgrade tool.
  • We plan to deprecate and remove the support for XML RPC protocol versions earlier than 1.6.9.1 in Plesk Obsidian 18.0.82. We strongly recommend that you update all existing integrations using earlier versions of the XML RPC protocol to comply with the version 1.6.9.1 specification.

Question Removed default MariaDB Server

PixelPusher

New Pleskian
Hi, this is my first few days with Plesk and love it. I have some quick questions about some things I have done.

Plesk Obsidian Web Host Edition
Version 18.0.41 Update #1
Microsoft Server 2022
VPS host is IONOS

I removed the default MariaDB Server from the Database Servers list, with the intention of creating a MySQL Server. With that in mind:
  1. Are these database servers only used by the websites? I assume that Plesk uses it's own database?
  2. I have been unable to get MySQL working, so decided to go back to MariaDB as I now know that MariaDB is a MySQL equivalent. However MariaDB is not an option. I only have 'MySQL' and 'Microsoft SQL Server'. I am unable to find solutions for this.
  3. Am I right in thinking that MariaDB is actually the recommended database for Plesk use?
Thanks!
