sendmail and sqlite problem

Hi All,
I am running plesk 8.01 on linux
I am facing problem that SMTP is running (as shown in service management)
but I am not able to send email from the PHP
mail($to, $sub, $mes,"From: [email protected]");

no error but no email too..

Also can one tell me if I can install any services etc from PLESK itself , without other access neither telnet nor shell.

Can evrything be controled via Plesk ?
I need to install sqlite ... how ???
