Setting the Outgoing IP with qmail

I have tried creating the /var/qmail/control/outgoingip file but it seems to have no affect.

Do i need to patch the qmail version installed with plesk 9.0.1, and iff so - what is the best way to do that?

I need to set the IP to be the same as the RDNS entry for the domain.

Thanks for your help.

In previous version is Plesk you would have to patch qmail to do this.

The source code for the modified Plesk qmail is available somewhere on the website -- if you search the forum for "qmail source" you should find the link.

It isn't necessarily an easy thing to do.

The IP used by qmail is, incidentially, the first one listed in eth0 (oh dear -- or am I wrong. It is either that of the first IP listed in the highest ethX or something like that). So if you only need it to be on particular IP, you can change the order of things in your ifcfg-ethX:Y files.

Switch to postfix it's not butchered a standard copy and there are heaps of tweaks for postfix it's just editing the main.cf and master.cf files in /etc/postfix

You can read the postfix website tells you everything. Also if your os does not have postfix-2.6 (latest version) you can build one it's totally standard.
