• The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Hi there,

I wanted to setup a hosting account that does not belong to a real domain. i tried to do it with subdomain of an axisting domain and it worked fine..setup the hosting account and everything. I want to use this space to do general tasks so i am not interested in the emails or the domain itself.

How do i access the home page of this domain though?

i tried the ip of my server followed by the unexistent domain and variations of that according to the path on the file directory onthe server but not luck. Am I missing something ?

To access the domain by the IP address directly, you would have to make that 'fictional' domain the default domain for the IP address. In the control panel, go to Server - IP Addresses, click on the Hosting column for the IP address assigned to the fictional domain, select the fictional domain, then click the link 'Set as Default'.

Or if you login to the Plesk control panel, you can use the domain preview function of the Control Panel. This would cause the browser to go to the URL like:

Code:
https://www.yourhostdomain.com:8443/sitepreview/http/fictionaldomain.com/

(you can try this without logging into the CP as well) Just replace 'yourhostdomain.com' and 'fictionaldomain.com' with the appropriate names.
