  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

SimpleDNS Problem

GlobalServe

Basic Pleskian
Hello,

I try to use simple dns for DNS server but it does not work.

Set default component failed: defpackagemng failed: Execute dnsmng.exe REMOVE * failed: The system cannot find the file specified. (Error code 2) at lookup subKey=Software\JH Software\Simple DNS Plus value=Path with type 1
Execute dnsmng.exe UPDATE * failed: The system cannot find the file specified. (Error code 2) at lookup subKey=Software\JH Software\Simple DNS Plus value=Path with type 1

This is the error that I get when trying to switch in the component management.

Tried with version 4.x and version 5.x

Does anybody have a solution.

Plesk 8.3.0 does not support Simple DNS 5.
Please be sure you are trying to install Simple DNS 4.00.07.

This version is installed but:

Simple DNS Plus (not installed) in component manager.
Do I need to install simple dns in a specific directory.

Thx for your reply

Regards,
Joeri

Simple DNS 4 on Windows 2008

Unfortunately, Simple DNS Plus Version 4 does not install on Windows 2008. Version 5.0 does and Plesk recognizes the server. When the component is activated, Plesk kills the Simple DNS service and throws the following error:

Error: Set default component failed: defpackagemng failed: Execute dnsmng.exe REMOVE * failed: The system cannot find the file specified. (Error code 2) at lookup subKey=Software\JH Software\Simple DNS Plus value=Path with type 1
Execute dnsmng.exe UPDATE * failed: The system cannot find the file specified. (Error code 2) at lookup subKey=Software\JH Software\Simple DNS Plus value=Path with type 1

Any way to resolve this issue quickly so we can fully leverage Windows 2008?

Thanks

Hello gridsouth,

I suggest you to use MS DNS till Plesk will support SimpleDNS 5.

Any timeline for Simple DNS 5 support for Plesk 8.3? Simple DNS is way more useful than MS DNS and way more secure.

Damn, I just upgraded all nameservers to new SimpleDNS 5.0 :(

Q2'08 hmm... gonna downgrade them...

Gentlemen,

Sorry, Plesk 8.4 for Windows which will support SimpleDNS 5 is delayed for the end of the April.
