SMTP slow

I've just setup plesk 12 on my Dedicated Server, and setup an e-mail account. I can receive e-mails to that account quickly, but when I try to send one out, including to the same e-mail address, it takes several minutes. This also impedes being able to setup the e-mail on Outlook as outlook gives up trying to find the e-mail and decides that it can't connect to SMTP.

Any ideas?

Check mail logs obviously.
