SPF entries in DNS

Please include automatic SPF entries in to DNS. www.dnsreport.com is reporting this as a warning, and states that if you don't have it, some sites may flag your email as spam.

You can use TXT records for this, please search the forum!

If you have a specific SPF entry which you want to use for all domains, you can create a TXT record in the Server DNS Template which will then be used for all domains which are then created. For any domains already existing, you would have to manually add the TXT record into those domain's DNS entries.

If you read the information at pobox.com, you will see that there is an SPF wizard. Since there are many different things you can specify for the SPF record, not all SPF records will necessarily be the same for all domains in the world.

Since this is a forum for Suggestions, are you saying that Plesk should not ever be setup to create these automatically? Don't you think that some kind of default entry, or SPF manager that handles the majority of situations, should be created?

I realize I can do this myself, with a lot of research. I have already done quite a bit, reading the forums as you suggest, and the pobox.com Web site, but it is still pretty confusing. In particular, in a shared IP environment, it is not clear how to set up the DNS records related to the machine name (the one that responds to HELO). There are posts that seem to suggest you need to setup separate entries for each mechanism, and yet no mention of that in the setup wizard.

Since Plesk basically has two setups, with shared IP and dedicated IP, and it runs its own DNS, I would think PLESK could be improved to handle at least these two SPF situations automatically and correctly.

No, I am not saying that. I was giving additional information for you or others in case it was needed.

The configuration of the Server DNS Template is something which an admin should check and change to suit before creating domains in any case, so once this is done, all domains created thereafter would have at least a minimum standard of records. The choice of what exact records should be in all newly created domains by default should be up to each admin anyways (IMO).

I would say the only issue for automatic creation would be that no matter what they chose as a 'default' would end up causing a flurry of complaints no matter what, since no one solution is ever good enough to suit all people. Please do not get me wrong, you're post was valid, I was just indicating another method in the mean time. As for me personally, I would rather have less Plesk settings to undo when I setup a server for initial use...
