• The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

SSH Add-on

Hello everyone,

I have Plesk 10.0 updated recently and I'm confronted with a lot of problems since then. My customers keep sending me messages, that some features are not working anymore and so on. One of the problem, which I'm really got stuck are the SSH access. I've created a service plan called 'Basic' for all my customers. And I've created an add-on for the SSH access. The 'Basic' service plan has the permission set:

Hosting settings management: deactivated
Management of access to the server over SSH: Not allowed

and settings:

SSH access to the server shell under the subscription's system user: deactivated

And my SSH add-on has the permission set:

Management of access to the server over SSH: Can allow access only to a chrooted environment
SSH access to the server shell under the subscription's system user: /bin/bash (chrooted)

After adding this add-on to the subscription, the feature is not available. After login as an administrator and going to the control panel and activating the user with access to the SSH environment /bin/bash (chrooted) my subscription is getting locked and cannot be synchronized anymore. I don't understand the idea of this. What am I doing wrong? Actually I like the idea of having packages and add-on's. Give me a better control of the settings. But they don't work, or I'm doing something wrong.

Thank you for your reply.

Cheers,
Felix

I tried to create new subscription with described above service plan and addon and ssh over chrooted /bin/bash is worked, so I have a few questions to you:
What value of 'Hosting settings management' permission do you have in your addon plan?
What value of 'Hosting settings management' permission do you have in your subscription?

Hey ostapb,

for the subscription it is disabled and for the add-on as well.

Thank you for checking that for me.

Felix

Of course I can do that. But after unlocking and syncing the setting is gone again.

my investigations tell me that if subscription created by your basic service plan and addon with ssh access - customer can choose ssh for himself in 'web hosting settings' and use it. but in this situation subscription will bee locked and i consider this like plesk's bug.

but if admin sets some hosting settings in subscription and it will be lock - is a normal situation because it's admin's decision to change settings.

and one more: if u want to get all customers access via ssh by addon plan you need to disable 'Management of access to the server over SSH' permission in addon.
also it solve problem with subscription locking

This is still not solving my problem. If I allow the customer to change it by himself and if he does, I'm still having the subscription locked.

If the admin is changing it, it still gets locked.

If you consider this as a Plesk bug, maybe Parallels want to provide and answer to this?

Cheers,
Felix
