Strange Characters wont go away

We have the following character appearing in a non editable section of a client's sitebuilder site;

On one template it appears 3 times and we can't remove it. We have even upgraded from Sitebuilder 1.x to 2.11 and it is still there. We have even uninstalled and erinstalled the template in question. We have setup 3 difference instances of the same client in siteubilder and continue to get this issue each time.

Ok sw-soft told us to put the following in a .htaccess file for our client with the issue;

AddDefaultCharset UTF-8
