Hi guys out there,

I bought Plesk 10.4 some hours ago and installed it succesfully on my debian 6.0 squeeze root.
If i create a Plesk User with a domain (and a system account), i get the following error:

Error: system user update is failed: Unable to create system user: Unable to execute usermng: usermng: PAM password change failed: 10, User not known to the underlying authentication module usermng: Failed to set password for user 'test12'

If I do
plesk01:~# passwd test12
passwd: user 'test12' does not exist

So the user test12 isn't created on my system. What could be the reason?

I'm thanksful for each small tip.

Thank you.

no one who has an idea, why there is no user created on my system?

Something very similar occurred for one of our customers a few days ago, a reboot of the entire system resolved it. Not entirely sure what the issue is but I don't think its a Plesk problem per se . AFAIK usermng interacts with useradd/usermod and the Plesk db.

Beyond a reboot I think you'd need to start messing around with the 'usermng' command to see if you can get that to give you more information regarding the problem.

paul.

After a reboot, the same error happens again. There is no user created.
useradd and usermod working fine, but plesk doesn't use it :(

I now try to reinstall plesk on a debian 5 server.
Could someone give me a working sources.list for debian 5 and plesk?
