  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.

Hi guys,

I am trying to restore a backup file created under 8.1 but i get the follwing error message:

Execution of /usr/local/psa/admin/plib/api-cli/domain.php --update domain.com -hosting true -hst_type phys -ip xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx -ssl true -webstat none -err_docs true -login <user> -passwd -shell /bin/sh failed with return code 1.
Stderr is
An error occured during domain update: error in hosting updating: Unable to update hosting preferences: User <user> already exists. User <user> already exists.

Failed deployment of domain domain.com

Execution of /usr/local/psa/admin/plib/api-cli/domain_pref.php -d domain.com failed with return code 1.
Stderr is
Unable to set this domain as default: Domain has no a physical hosting

Thanks in advance

Should I completely delete the domain before restoring the backup file?

Yeah, I would delete the domain and then recreate it then restore it.

Good Luck :)

tried that but still get the same error message :/

Any clue someone?

browse the psa database and remove the xxxx username under the "clients" table.

Hi there,
i have checked the passwd file but the user aint there :/
PSA database? how can i access this?

Regards,
Antonio

Does the backup function also backs up the database?
I just realize that i still have this website database live. Look like only the files where deleted.
Can this user XXXX be in the one in that database and being the origin of the error message or is that user XXXX somewhere else?

I noticed that even when i try to create an FTP account using the user XXXX name i get an error message saying that this customer already exists so i guess it's not referring to the user XXX on hat specific website database but more to smthg that touches PSA directly?

Thanks in advance.
Antonio

FTP Login Reset Error: Unable to update hosting preferences. User xxxx already exists

I keep getting the error "Unable to update hosting preferences. User xxxx already exists" when trying to update a FTP login. Some details:

domain: awesomecorns.com
old login: swesomecorns
Rejected Login(s):
awesomecorns
awesomecorns_
awesomecorns_com

I checked the PSA DB and found no exact matches for these usernames. I can reset the login to anything else like "somthingelse"

It seems like the duplicate user check is using a "LIKE" sql search and getting a return so I can't use any FTP login that contains part of a domain name on the server.

Any ideas?

First of all I think the only way is to access the psa database trying to fint the *"$/&% username BUT

in most of the cases this error happend (to me) when I'm trying
---> to change the name of the ftp user in the setup-page for the new domain. (with plesk) <---

Then to fix it I'm simply adding an user to my system throught a "useradd missing_username"
and the error goes away...

Hello,

indeed the username exist either in plesk database or in the passwd file.

So check the sys_users table and the /etc/passwd .
