Update from FC3 to the latest...

Hello,

I've been reading the internet for some time now. I have a 1&1 root server and am concious of the fact that it is only running Fedora Core 3. What I am thinking is that maybe I should update this to the latest version which I believe is FC5.

The question is, how do I go about this?

I've been looking for some kind of helpful (and reassuring) guide in a sort of step by step manner. I am competent when it comes to using command line and the such and have no worries there. I just worry that if it breaks I'll have a server offline.

Do I just use YUM to update it? If so, how? What will happen to Plesk if I do this, will I need to reinstall it? Would it be easier just to do a clean install, if so, how do I go about doing that over SSH?

I'm thinking a clean install would be good, but I'm not sure how you'd go about that over SSH. I am a bit new to the server thing and so every step is a new learning curve for me. I notice that currently the server has some bizarre partition setup that would probably make much more sense if it were done differently.

Any help, tips, hints etc are very very welcome.

Thank you in advance.

Anyone? Any ideas at all?

I could really do with some help with this, any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
