i followed the plesk-7.5r-vpn-guide.pdf instructions, to enable the vpn module, generate a new key, and download the windows client. The plesk version on my dedicated linux server is 7.5.2.

after installing the TAP device on my WindowsXP SP2 PC, running the Connect to VPN.bat gived success information:

LZO compression initialized
TAP-WIN32 device [VPN Connection name] opened: ...tap
Notified TAP-Win32 driver to set a DHCP IP/netmask of 172.16.0.2/255.255.255.252 on interface {...} [DHCP-serv: 172.16.0.0, lease-time: 31536000]
Successful ARP Flush on interface [131076] {...}
UDPv4 link local {bound}: [undef]:1194
UDPv4 link remote: PleskServerIP:1194
Peer Connection Initiated with PleskServerIP:1194
Initialization Sequence Completed

Windows ipconfig gave the following:

C:\>ipconfig

Windows IP Configuration

LAN adater name:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix: domain
IP Address: 192.168.2.100
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.2.1

VPN Connection name:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix:
IP Address: 172.16.0.2
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.252
Default Gateway:

However, after some browsing and searching activities, in the status window of the newly established VPN Connection, it's shown that the number of sent packets is 170, while the number of received packets is only 6!

Also, as I let both icons to be shown in the notification area whey they are connected, I can only see the flashing of the original LAN connection, while the icon of the VPN Connection never changed staying black all the time.

All these seem to indicate the VPN Connection has not been really used in Internet activities. Why?

Can any one kindly give some hints? Thanks a lot!
