• Halloween is coming! To celebrate the occasion, we dusted off a couple of old skins, and even created a brand new one (Pixel).
    To get into the festive spirit, install the Skins extension.
  • The new Python extension is now available. It allows customers to deploy and manage WSGI-based Python applications on their websites directly from Plesk.
  • The Plesk Mobile apps for iOS and Android and the Plesk Mobile Center extension have been deprecated, and are no longer available for new installations. In Plesk Obsidian 18.0.84, the Plesk Mobile Center extension will be removed from servers during the upgrade, and the Plesk Mobile apps will lose their server management features.
  • The Social Login extension has been deprecated and will be removed in Plesk Obsidian 18.0.84. After that, it will no longer be possible to log in to Plesk with a Google, Facebook, GitHub account, or with a passkey. Plesk usernames and passwords, as well as logging in with a WebPros Account, are not affected.

Hi -

We have dedicated namservers and don't want to run bind on our web servers at all. Is it safe to uninstall it?

I'm worried about the dependency shown below.

rpm -e bind-9.3.3-10.el5
error: Failed dependencies:
bind = 30:9.3.3-10.el5 is needed by (installed) bind-chroot-9.3.3-10.el5.i386
** bind >= 9.2.1 is needed by (installed) psa-8.4.0-cos5.build84080425.19.i586

Thanks,
Beth

That's what I was thinking. I'm new to Plesk, so wanted to be sure. Thanks!

No worries!
its always better to ask and find out, then to try and find out the hard way!

I dont use Bind or the entire Email system in Plesk but I have to have it cause Plesk requires it :s

You could just turn it off too. Personally I recommend keeping it, for no other reason than speeding up DNS lookups. Its a useful way to improve performance for things like spamassassin.
