Why does subdomain redirect to wrong domain?

We have a server with like 50 domains on a single shared IP.

We have created a subdomain under one of those.

Problem:

hitting http://subdomain.domain.com instantly redirects us to the domain set as "default" for that IP. How do we prevent this?
