• Please be aware: Kaspersky Anti-Virus has been deprecated
With the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.64, "Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Servers" will be automatically removed from the servers it is installed on. We recommend that you migrate to Sophos Anti-Virus for Servers.
  • The Horde webmail has been deprecated. Its complete removal is scheduled for April 2025. For details and recommended actions, see the Feature and Deprecation Plan.
  • We’re working on enhancing the Monitoring feature in Plesk, and we could really use your expertise! If you’re open to sharing your experiences with server and website monitoring or providing feedback, we’d love to have a one-hour online meeting with you.

Question Will this work for Wordpress Duplication?

New Pleskian
Hello Everyone,
Just looking for some advice on something before I go ahead and do it, I am currently working on a commercial website where there are lots of updates need doing, I want to duplicate the website, run the updates and then test if it works. Now I am a Joomla guy and this is a Wordpress environment so you'll have to excuse my lack of knowledge.

What I want to do is use the plesk migrator to pull in the wordpress site so that I can test, If I use the plesk migrator to pull it onto my server will it break any of the configuration on the live side? Like for example it doesn't just pull it into my server and delete the original site?

Just want to make sure I'm not going to break anything by doing this. Thanks!

Why not use Wordpress Toolkit from Plesk to clone the production website to a staging subdomain (example staging.yourdomain.tld) and then test your updates there?
