• Our team is looking to connect with folks who use email services provided by Plesk, or a premium service. If you'd like to be part of the discovery process and share your experiences, we invite you to complete this short screening survey. If your responses match the persona we are looking for, you'll receive a link to schedule a call at your convenience. We look forward to hearing from you!
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Win2k8 <> Plesk Install Failures...

NeuroPsyche

Regular Pleskian
I've run Plesk for years on Win2k3 servers, both x86 and x64 without any problems. In fact, it ran so smooth I was patting myself on the back on how good of an installation and setup I did for the systems.

Now, where in 2008 and my big Wonderful idea! Upgrade the old Dell 2650's to 2950's. Install Win2k8 x64 on all of them, then install Plesk, do a migrate, and I'm done.

Well... Nothing at all worked.
1st, Windows 2008 loaded and installed fine.
I installed all the required components(at least the ones that I always did for the win2k3 systems) on the new win2k8 machines such as Application Server, DNS, IIS, SSI, API, ASP, etc.
Everything was perfect. No errors in the logs. Ok, it was time to install Plesk.
2nd, Installed Plesk, loaded my keys, installed the Plus Pack, Installed Gene6, Installed all the updates... Looked at the event logs... error after error...

I did a total wipe, reinstalled from OS on up, about 10 times now on the same machine. The harddrives are going to burn out soon if I do anymore reformating! :)

PLEASE!!!!!!! If anyone has any successful installs of Plesk, Plesk Plus, etc. on a Windows 2008 Server x64 machine, can you write???? PLEASE!
Tell me what I'm doing wrong! There has to be something darn special about the Win2k8 setup to allow Plesk to work and I just don't know what it is.

My fantasy of easily migrating a Win2k3 Plesk system to a Win2k8 system and have everything run fine and dandy is all but gone now.

Thanks!
And, I'm getting to the point, if someone wants any thing in return of USD, let me know! :) Email me.

Dave.

Thank you for the report.

Could you describe exact issues with Plesk on Windows 2008?
What does not work?
