I could solve the issue, the problem was that in my.cnf I had a variable that was not named properly. I had "table_cache" instead of "table_open_cache".

I allowed all remote connections to mysql in the Plesk UI settings. Now I'm stuck in the command line (for another reason), and I would like to refuse all remote connections. How can this be done through the command line ? Thanks

I don't know, probably just one, as per default. In any case, there's no way I'm reinstalling the whole system to get phpmyadmin back. I believe this problem happened after I ran the last Plesk update. So, how can we reinstall phpmyadmin when it is not available anymore as a component in Plesk ?
