  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Question AlmaLinux + Cockpit + Plesk

Tr3Mendo

New Pleskian
Server operating system version
AlmaLinux 9
Plesk version and microupdate number
Plesk Obsidian 18
I have Cockpit installed on AlmaLinux 9 to control the server at a basic level, without add-ons.

And Plesk to control the different hosts and websites.

How can I access cockpit without using the server's IP, with a sumdomain?

To access Cockpit without using the server's IP address and instead using a subdomain, you can set up a reverse proxy in Plesk. Here's how you can do it:

1. Log in to your Plesk panel.
2. Go to Websites & Domains for the domain/subdomain you want to use to access Cockpit.
3. Click on Apache & nginx Settings.
4. In the Additional Apache directives section, add the following lines:
Code:
ProxyPass /cockpit http://server-IP:9090
ProxyPassReverse /cockpit http://server-IP:9090
Make sure to replace server-IP with the actual IP address of your server where Cockpit is running.
5. Click OK to save the changes.

After setting up the reverse proxy, you should be able to access Cockpit using the subdomain you configured in Plesk. Just enter the subdomain in your browser followed by /cockpit (e.g., subdomain.example.com/cockpit) to access Cockpit without using the server's IP address.
