  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.

I try to install Plesk 8.1 on Ubuntu 6.06 LTS but the autoinstaller fails.
The installation is a default Ubuntu 6.06 Server installation without any extra software.
When the PSA packages are selected and I want to install I get the following errors:

apt-get say following:

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created

Does anyone have Plesk 8.1 running (clean install) on Ubuntu 6.06 Server LTS ?

I do. I didn't encounter any problems. Seeing as you're having trouble getting packages I guess you need to enable the universe/multiverse repositories. You can find them in /etc/apt/sources.list

Thank you very much. I didn't think of that. Enabled multiverse and universe and works like a charm now.

I tried 5 Plesk installs (all auto-installer) on 3 boxes of which 2 installs initially failed.

I think the first was due to a slow connection to the repositories and I had different hostnames set in /etc/hostname and /etc/hosts on another install.

After those two failed attempts all three Plesk installs went ok (os reinstalled after each failure) except that Awstats doesn't work and durring the Plesk install the auto installer would spend 2-5 minutes trying to start apache but then would continue on ok and give the successful installation notice.

A lot of "..._problems.log" files were created durring the install in /tmp but don't seem to mean much so far. Upon reboot all the plesk /tmp installer log files dissapeared so I didn't get a chance to scan them.

These installs were all on clean servers with only the Plesk Updater and Backup Utilities for addons. I avoid any Plesk addons I can to keep things more stable.

I also did an apt-get update and apt-get upgrade before installing Plesk.

Thanks to all. I also uncommented the universal list and it worked wonders

(edit) woops spoke to soon I get this
