Area Map Google API Key

I have installed Sitebuilder version 4.1 for linux, as admin I have configured the Area Map module with a newly generated API key. When I now add the Area Map as a user to a site I get the message "The sitebuilder server is not signed up to Google Maps Api service. Please contact the Sitebuilder administrator...". When I enter a key in the module as the user at "Service provider settings" it works fine.
