Atomic Secured Linux (2.0.7) for Plesk 9

atomicturtle

Golden Pleskian
This is to announce official Plesk 9 support in Atomic Secured Linux, Atomic Secured Linux(tm) is a Unified Security solution, for Linux(tm) systems designed to protect your servers against both known and unknown threats. It is distributed through a subscription yum channel ensuring that ASL is always kept up to date. Unlike other security solutions, ASL works by combining security at all layers, from the Kernel all the way up to the application layer to provide the most complete protection available for Linux servers. ASL includes the most hardened kernel on the market, automated system hardening techniques, userspace and host Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), malware/rootkit detection and elimination, blacklisting technologies and web application firewalling to protect multiuser and web application hosting environments unlike no other solution. ASL is uniquely effective at addressing emerging threats posed by vulnerabilities in todays complex systems and applications, such as web hosting environments, multiuser systems, CRM's, forums, shopping carts, Content Management systems and other custom applications.

Whats new in ASL 2.0.7:
- added support for Plesk 9
- updated ASL installer to 2.0.2, this supports the new firstboot architecture. New installs will now trigger a test-mode event that will set the ASL kernel to boot only once, and if it is successful make that kernel the new default. Previous behavior was to always make the kernel the default. Note, this does not apply to upgrade events yet.
- feature #xxx - added detection for php functions: escapeshellcmd
- bugfix #193 - added /var/asl/data/templates/general_updates_pending
- bugfix #xxx - Bugfix for condition where mysql is not installed, and the user selects No. This was reporting that mysql was installed even if the user chose not to use it.
- bugfix #xxx - changed proftpd.conf-tls-template to only allow SSLv3 (was SSLv23)
- bugfix #xxx - proftp.conf-tls include is now written to proftpd.conf, rather than proftpd.include
- bugfix #xxx - ossec_check now removes mysql settings correctly when mysql support is disabled after it has been enabled.
- bugfix #172, ossec mysql changed default to use the TCP socket, rather than the local socket. Local sockets cannot survive a mysql restart without a dbd restart.
- bugfix #xxx - improved version detection, -testing builds will now reflect they are newer correctly
- bugfix #xxx - added vulnerability information for psmon_installed/not installed check
- bugfix #xxx - lowered psmon vulnerability severity from critical to moderate
- bugfix #xxx - Corrected append code to proftpd-tls.conf, this should be an overwrite, not append

ASL is available for CentOS 4/5, Fedora 4/6/7/8/9/10, and RHEL 4/5 for a limited time price of $158/year per server. Not running one of these Operating Systems? Try our rules-only channel for mod_security and clamav updates.
