• Debian 11 is approaching its end-of-life (vendor EOL date - August 31, 2026). Plesk Obsidian 18.0.80 will be the last release to support it.
If you are running Plesk Obsidian on Debian 11, we recommend you upgrade those servers to Debian 12 using our dist-upgrade tool.
  • We plan to deprecate and remove the support for XML RPC protocol versions earlier than 1.6.9.1 in Plesk Obsidian 18.0.82. We strongly recommend that you update all existing integrations using earlier versions of the XML RPC protocol to comply with the version 1.6.9.1 specification.

Authentication Required

All of a sudden one of my domains will not load in the browser. You get an:
"Authentication Required" prompt.
None of the pages will load.

Is this a permission issue?
How can I reset the domain in plesk so it will allow access again?

I don't want it to ask for anything - just let people browse the website.

I have searched for this problem on this forum but found nothing about the domain. I have found a few hits regarding stats or email - but nothing on the domain itself (httpdocs).

I am not using ssl or any authentication on the public site.

Hi,

I'm having this problem too. Does anyone have any sage words of wisdom to point me down the correct path?

TIA

I'll answer my own question here, in case someone else can benefit:

In Plesk, in the Setup for the domain, I changed the FTP/Frontpage password.

Apparently, you must also go into IIS and manually make the same change for IIS User:

Websites -> yourdomain.com -> Properties -> Directory Security -> Edit -> at this page you can setup the password for IIS user.
