• The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Backup Manager always running

I want to configure the backup manager to do a full site backup once a night to a separately mounted drive. Using Home -> Backup Manager ->Scheduled Backup Settings I set up a task that's supposed to run daily at 1:30AM. Selected server repository, Backup - Server configuration and content. I changed the DUMP_D setting /etc/psa/psa.conf to point to the directory I want. Nothing for "prefix" (what's this anyway).

I set this up 4 days ago and I don't any backups listed in the repository - shouldn't I see a list there? Also, the backup manager and perl processes are always running on my server. Under current backup tasks there's a backup job starting about 24 hours at 12:45pm (last time I adjusted settings?) and I have no way to stop it.

Finally - does backup manager use rsync? If I keep 2 backups are they going to be just differentials?

Thanks.

So I changed the cron job that runs the backup from every 15 minutes to just once at 1:30AM. It ran and finished and in the list of backups I see the job backup_info_0912100215.xml. So that seems good. However in the comments it says "This file is not a valid backup file."

So what next? Igor? Thanks...

Left this alone for a few days and just checked - this process has been running for 5 days

/usr/bin/perl /usr/local/psa/admin/bin/plesk_agent_manager server --owner-uid=0f86eb41-2c79-4316-8d0f-b336ff3aa2df --dump-rotation=1 --session-path=/usr/local/psa/PMM/sessions/2009-12-12-021508.209

I just killed the process. (Any thing else I should do for proper cleanup?)

Seems like something is wrong here... any insights would be appreciated. I'm about to just get rid of all this backup stuff and rely on my own scripts.

Thanks.
