Can I delete folders from a deleted subdomain ?

Hi all,
I recently deleted 3 subdomains each one redirecting to a folder. When I looked in my file browser I discovered that one folder only was deleted and I still have 2 existing folders that correspond to my deleted subdomains. Is this this a standard behaviour (and why)? Can I delete safely these 2 folders ?
