Cannot publish, please help.

Please forgive me if this is an obvious fix, but I'm very inexperienced with this stuff.

Anyways, I created the site with sitebuilder and stuff, then I go to publish and I get this:

The site cannot be published to the specified location.
The specified IP address has invalid format or cannot be resolved through DNS.

What does this mean?

I bought the domain on domain.com and got the basic hosting service.

Please help.

Please, make sure you can login by FTP to the host used as publishing location.
