  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Cannot Save Backup after Upgrade

Andrew_Pa

Regular Pleskian
Hello, Yesterday I installed Plesk 11.

Everything is fine except the Backup.

I cannot save backups locally. Every time I push the save button at a backup, Plesk ask me to configure "Backup security settings" and ask me If I want Password.

I choose yes I want, I enter a password and re-enter it and then when I click OK, plesk took me at the backup manager screen and nothing happens. Then I push the save button again, Plesk ask me the same question and nothing happens after that.

I tried this by not choosing "Use password protection" but the result is the same.

Please can you help me?

PS :
The schedule backup doesn't work and I found this solution from here (http://forum.parallels.com/showthread.php?t=260889&highlight=backup).

The backup should start downloading after confirming whether you want password protected or not. Just make sure you don't have any pop-up blocker in the background, or you don't stop the page from loading fully.

The backup doesn't start. Every time I push the save button, always appear the password confirmation regardless if I choose YES i want password protection or NO I don't.

I tried with all browser and I have the same results....

Andrew, while you look for a solution to that problem, you can zip up your backup files, move them to your domain /httpdocs folder and download them either through FTP or even http.

The backup files them selves are located in

/var/lib/psa/dumps

Thank you very much for your answer! The problem is that in the dump folder, there are many backups and folders for the clients or resselers. I would like to save one file with all domains and configuration of my server.

I found a command for that
/opt/psa/admin/bin/plesk_agent_manager export-dump-as-file --dump-file-name /var/lib/psa/dumps/backup_info_1208140131.xml -v --output-file /tmp/yourbackup.tar

but I cannot use it because the folder /opt/psa/ doesn't exist

Do we know how can I use it?

Thank you very much!!!!

The new path should be: /usr/local/psa/admin/bin/plesk_agent_manager

Also on the other hand, you can tar all the files in /var/lib/psa/dumps to 1 big file in your httpdocs that you can download. Such as

tar -cf /var/www/vhosts/domain.com/httpdocs/backupfile.tar /var/lib/psa/dumps

or

tar -cf /var/www/vhosts/domain.com/httpdocs/backupfile.tar /var/lib/psa/dumps/*

Thank you very much for your answer. I give I try for this workaround!

But I found something.

I found the folder
/usr/local/psa/PMM/tmp

I suppose is the temporary folder for the backups? Because inside there are many files from yestarday and today (probably my tries for backup????).

Does it helps this information?

That folder temporarily holds backup files before the backup process completes. When its complete then the files are moved to /var/lib/psa/dumps

Thank you very much for your help!

I can't understand this weird problem. I don't what causes it.

The only I can think is maybe the backup xml cannot run properly. Is there any way to check it? I download the xml file and i check it but I don't see something wrong....

I don't believe it.

Finally it works!!!!!! But how???

Since yesterday I give a try to all browsers ( I use firefox ) but I get the same problem.

Before a while a install the latest version of Chrome and... voila! Save locally backup process works perfect!

I also realize that the icons are different in chrome than firefox.

@abdi thank you very much for your time to answer me! But the solution was very simple finally....

Alright, that is good to hear and am glad you are finely sorted and its working fine. Stay blessed.
