Here is a question. Do i have to Upgrade from CentOS 4.2 to 4.3 before installing Plesk 8.1. or not (4.3 is the only option offered for Plesk on CentOS except 3.something)? And if I will use yum it will bump me up to 4.4., so which OS version should I use to install plesk on that server? I am confused.

Either will work. SWsoft is just confusing people as 4.2, 4.3 and 4.4 are not really different OS versions. CentOS 4.X is a binary compatible rebuild of RHEL 4 update X and I don't see SWsoft differentiating between different update levels of RHEL 4.

Thanks.
Yeah, I yum'ed my version to 4.4 and rebooted. Then I used RHEL4 autoinstaller and had no problems except come PHP dependencies that were easy to fix with yum. However, RHEL4 installer installed psa v8.1.0_build81070224.19 os_CentOS 4.2 for me, which doesn't really add up, but hey, I don't care as long as it works.. and it does.

You could also have used the CentOS autoinstaller. :)

But yes, Plesk shows Plesk for CentOS 4.2. It's like I said earlier: SWsoft is confusing everyone with their info on CentOS version numbers. CentOS 4.4 is exactly the same as CentOS 4.2 plus a couple of security fixes.

Yeah the point releases of CentOS/RHEL are just the OS + all the patches released on a quarterly basis. "yum update" does the exact same thing. Except you know... faster and cooler.
