CentOS 7.9

Plesk version and microupdate number

18.0.75

Hi

I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to this so this has taken me by surprise. IONOS have mailed me to say my OS is obsolete and I need to upgrade before the end of March. I'm running Plesk Obsidian 18.0.75 but the OS is CentOS Linux 7.9.2009(core)

I realise this might not be the correct forum for this but can anyone tell me what kind of task this is to become compliant with my server provider?

No need to post the same question twice. Most questions are answered within 1 or 2 business days by other users or staff. If you need an faster answer it better to open a ticket with support directly.

Anyway, if you want to move away from your deprecated OS to a new one, there are two options.

1) An in-place upgrade to AlmaLinux 8
This requires some technical knowledge and will upgrade you OS to AlmaLinux version 8, which only receives official support till 2029. The benefit of an in-place OS upgrade is that is leaves almost all of your server configuration as is. Which is epically useful if you have customized any server confutation out side of Plesk. More information on how to perform an in-place upgrade can be found here.

2) Migrate to a new server with any supported modern OS using the Plesk migrator or full server backup.
Simply spin up a new server with a modern OS and Plesk to migrate your content and settings over. The migration process is usually straight forward. But the downside is that it won't migrate all of your settings and custom server configurations. More information on migrating can be read here.
