• Debian 11 is approaching its end-of-life (vendor EOL date - August 31, 2026). Plesk Obsidian 18.0.80 will be the last release to support it.
If you are running Plesk Obsidian on Debian 11, we recommend you upgrade those servers to Debian 12 using our dist-upgrade tool.
  • We plan to deprecate and remove the support for XML RPC protocol versions earlier than 1.6.9.1 in Plesk Obsidian 18.0.82. We strongly recommend that you update all existing integrations using earlier versions of the XML RPC protocol to comply with the version 1.6.9.1 specification.

Question Change bind/named ports

Hi,
we need to change the ports bin9 is listening on on a Plesk-System.
This applies to both, the DNS-Port (53) and the RNDC-Port (953).

In the file /var/named/run-root/etc/named.conf there is a special section for custom directives, however bind doesn't allow to overwrite already existing blocks. In the block provided by Plesk there is already an "options"-directive, so it's not possible to add another one. However listen-on has to be places inside options.
We may add another rndc-port by adding an additional controls-block: contols allows for multiple blocks to be present, however those are simply added and don't overwrite previous blocks.

The DNS-Port may also be changed by adding -p <newport> to the file /etc/systemd/system/bind9.service.d/plesk.conf, though this doesn't help in changing the rndc-port.

Is there a way to change those ports in a different way? Maybe some option in panel.ini, or changing a plesk config file?
