  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Resolved Change Debian 10 to Debian 11

Obsidian 18.0.55
Hi guys,

we're using Debian 10.13 with Obsidian 18.0.55 on our server. We have a Plesk backup on a ftp server.

Is the following possible without any problems? Will all our websites work like normal?

We want to delete the server and install Debian 11 including Plesk Obsidian with the help of an image file from our hoster. After that we want to use the Plesk backup from the ftp server.

Will everything work after this, or is switching from Debian 10 to Debian 11 a problem because the backup file was made with Debian 10 system?

Thanks.

The Plesk Backup only backups up your vhosts and mail and such. It has no baring on what OS you're using. The only thing you will need to be aware of is the Plesk versions. You can restore a backup from, say, Plesk, 17 to Plesk 18, but not Plesk 18 to Plesk 17. You can read more about it over at Backing Up and Restoration

Basically you shouldn't have any issues restoring the backup to the new server. My only advice is to spin up the new server, get it restored, and make sure everything is good first before actually cutting over to the new server, make sure everything still works, then decomm the old server.
