  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
    If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Question Changing DNS settings and e-mail plan

Alexfou

New Pleskian
Hi all, i am new to this and after much search on the internet i decided to post here! I bought an e-mail plan and i need to make some changes to my DNS settings in plesk in order my e-mail plan to work. The company that sold me the e-mail plan told me to create the following records to plesk:

A Records

Type: A
Host: mail.zakynthos-transfers.gr.
Value: 136.243.173.169

Type: A
Host: webmail.zakynthos-transfers.gr.
Value: 136.243.173.169

✦━✦━

MX Record

Type: MX
Host: zakynthos-transfers.gr.
Value: (10) mail.zakynthos-transfers.gr.

✦━✦━

TXT Records

Type: TXT
Host: default._domainkey.zakynthos-transfers.gr.
Value: v=DKIM1; p=MIIBIjANBgkqhkiG9w0BAQEFAAOCAQ8AMIIBCgKCAQEA7n7zyCmcYTlEe0kcDQ4pwb/5HxTtONqy3TGRw3lrXMWtnJq8e4+EFQ3wufBJelCDvsRg/fv9HRrCTBaQnIRGmBWhyRKYCVXPV60j+aFfWVqsNKIIKpKJWAJDaeSmOWiha+h3lvDz68qX0RF79zCTPdRPBqlVonX22/4potZoEkvFTuU1CaDBw/k6jIzv/MoSiNxwtNvV+mm1J+TA7oft4b9C3KU13bI7dJzz7YIGxHSekq9R3LhcMUe/TxUFWgwDctk6aokQ2M0hYHsaQpZrfz5In/dc444lfPDyfX2wuRKDbb0TAFCyzElOD1luyQymRQUBR9iQGqpLn09rnoRoUQIDAQAB;

Type: TXT
Host: _domainkey.zakynthos-transfers.gr.
Value: o=-

Type: TXT
Host: zakynthos-transfers.gr.
Value: v=spf1 +a +mx include:_spf.fastmail.gr +ip6:2a01:4f8:171:22a8::2 -allA Records

As you can see on the screenshots i did but still the e-mail plan wont work. Anyone had an idea what am i doing wrong?

Hello, @Alexfou . The DNS records in your Plesk DNS zone appear correct. However, it seems like 'zakynthos-transfers.gr' is not pointed to the Plesk server by nameservers. Therefore, the DNS zone is external. In other words, the DNS zone in the Plesk panel is not active and the changes you perform there do not matter. You need to either:

Point the domain name to the Plesk nameservers (the ones shown on the third screenshot) from your domain registrar (the provider from which you bought the domain name)

or

Create the DNS records in your external DNS zone

I hope that helps.
