• Please be aware: Kaspersky Anti-Virus has been deprecated
With the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.64, "Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Servers" will be automatically removed from the servers it is installed on. We recommend that you migrate to Sophos Anti-Virus for Servers.
  • The Horde webmail has been deprecated. Its complete removal is scheduled for April 2025. For details and recommended actions, see the Feature and Deprecation Plan.
  • We’re working on enhancing the Monitoring feature in Plesk, and we could really use your expertise! If you’re open to sharing your experiences with server and website monitoring or providing feedback, we’d love to have a one-hour online meeting with you.

Question chroot and other 'system' dirs in /var/www/vhosts/...

Kurt Ludikovsky

Basic Pleskian
I found in my
/var/www/vhosts/
directory as well as in domain-directories, some subdirectories which I would relate to the system. I can't see any rule how they are located at a certain location or not.

Those are
/chroot - with subdir's /bin, /lib,m etc.
/fs
/bin
/lib, / lib64
/usr
/var

So I am curious where they come from and if they are needed.

Any hints or documentation welcome.

Directories bin, dev, lib, lib64, tmp, usr, var are used for chroot shell.

Because in Web Hosting Access of your domain you have "Access to the server over SSH" option as "/bin/bash (chrooted)"
