Question Clearing Logs

Carbonzxc

New Pleskian
Hello

Im using centos 6.8 (64 bit) and running Plesk Onyx 17.0.17 version.

How can i clear logs ? i can see there access logs ssl access logs etc. but im fearing to delete them because i dont want break webserver. So which folders/files can i delete for fre up some space ? (also os logs like update logs etc and plesk panel logs). Thanks !

It is safe to delete all log files that have a filename appended by a reverse date from /var/log, for example "modsec_audit.log-20161110.gz", but not "modsec_audit.log". It also does not make much sense to delete files that are constantly appended (the ones without the date). Personal advice: If your disk space is so small that archived logs are too much to handle, get a bigger server. Consider that you need disk space for backups and also consider to have enough headroom available for unforeseen events.
