Question Cloudflare DNS Extension - Clarification on a few things

HI all,

There are posts like this already, BUT I just wanted to get some clear answers as I tried installing this before, did something wrong and it pushed blank DNS entries to cloudflare and caused me tons of headaches.

But, if this works how I believe it works, then I want to revisit. I just need to tread more carefully haha.

1) Does having this integration installed and synced and set up correctly, allow me to have all my websites going through the cloudflare proxy (orange cloud enabled) but still allow me to generate SSL's and secure things properly via plesk? I want to run all websites through cloudflare proxy for security reasons, but cant as then the IP is obfuscated and plesk cant generate SSL's.

2) If I install this, I can choose to import all DNS FROM CLOUDFLARE and PUSH NOTHING back to cloudflare until all records have been imported? I dont know what the hell happened last time, but I ended up having to trawl through cloudflare logs and restore hundreds of DNS entries this wiped out.

3) Once all local DNS is the same as cloudflare DNS, can I enable a 2 way sync so if either end is changed it updates the other?

Hi, @dijitul . If you have auto-sync enabled, the TXT verification record should be automatically pushed to the Cloudflare DNS zone and the domain validation process for the SSL installation should pass without an issue even for wildcard SSLs.

Yes, there's an option that allows you to only import DNS records from Cloudflare to your Plesk DNS zone. Once this is done, you can enable the auto-sync setting.

In addition to the information already provided by Sebahat, beware of the current limitations. These are listed on the extension page. For example, domain aliases aren't available for importing, exporting or synchronization (yet).

There is no automatic two-way sync. Automatic synchronization is one way only, from Plesk to CF. The other way around (from CF to Plesk) is only available possible manually.
