Cron MRTG errors

Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this error:

ERROR: Creating templock /etc/mrtg/mrtg.cfg_1_22123: Read-only file system at /usr/bin/mrtg line 1274.

I guess it looks like either a config problem, or a permissions problem.

How can I stop it, as I am getting this error every 5 or 6 minutes.

Thanks!

ps - I have posted this under Plesk 8.1 too, as I doubt many trawl the 7.5 problems anymore.

I think i am a little further trying to find the cause of this problem.

The directory /etc/cron.d is read only. I cannot seem to change the permissions to be able to make changes in this folder. The Cron service is trying to run the cron job in this cron.d directory called mrtg.

I have uninstalled mrtg (as it was an old version) using the apt-get command. But I cannot reinstall the new version as the /etc/cron.d folder is read only.

I am more a Windows guru then Linux. How can I get the /etc/cron.d folder in to a state where i can remove and add files?

Thank you
