  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Custom domain name configured for autodiscovery not used for iOS QR code

PRODUCT, VERSION, OPERATING SYSTEM, ARCHITECTURE

Centos 7.9
Plesk 18.0.59

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION

The URL in the QR code generated for the automatic setup of mailboxes on iOS devices does not adhere to the custom domain name configured for autodiscovery.

This causes an issue when the email is hosted on Plesk, but the website is hosted remotely. In which case the automatic setup won't work.

To circumvent this very same problem with autodiscovery there is an option is available in the Server-wide mail settings to "Specify a custom domain name for mail autodiscover". This works really well. I would assume that when a custom domain name for mail autodiscover is configured, this domain would also be used for the link in the QR code for iOS too. But unfortunately that does not seem to be the case.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

1) Login to Plesk and navigate to Tool & Settings > Mail Server Settings. At the Mail autodiscover section, specify a custom domain name for mail autodiscover.
2) Add a domain in Plesk, create an mailbox within that domain.
3) In the list with email accounts in Plesk click the little i icon next to the email address to open the drawer with options to setup the email account.
4) Select iOS Mail on iPhone or iPad to view the QR code an setup link
5) notice how the link does not use the custom domain name for mail autodiscover configured in step 1.

ACTUAL RESULT

Link does not adhere to the custom domain name configured for autodiscovery.

EXPECTED RESULT

Custom domain name configured for autodiscovery used for setup link.

The behavior has been confirmed as a product issue and will now be tracked as PPPM-14340.

@Kaspar, just a quick update about this report. After further consideration, our team concluded that the case (PPP-64266) classifies as a UI bug rather than functional. The text is misleading and it will be fixed in the upcoming bug-fix weeks. On the other hand, we created another case (PPP-66829) for adding the ability to change change the location of Mail auto-discover files and setting a customer domain name. Unfortunately, we cannot provide any ETA for it yet.
