database not working with subdomains

Next question I have is how to access a database from a subdomain. There doesn't seem to be any subdomain specific database settings in Plesk but all attempts to access one of my databases from a subdomain are failing. Is there some sort of setting somewhere to do this sort of thing?

Thanks

Precisely what is the error when it fails?

There isn't any error returned, it just doesn't seem to be able to see any databases from the subdomain. I was figuring this must be something related to granting permissions to subdomain scripts for databases in the parent domain, but I'm brand new to subdomains so I don't know if that's even an issue.
