• The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Resolved Debian Bind9 Service broken after dist-upgrade

Geisi1909

New Pleskian
Hello,
my platform is
Debian 9.5 and Plesk Onyx Version 17.8.11
I performed a dist-upgrade yesterday(as my apt-upgrade is saying) so my bind9 server upgraded to 1.9.11.4 After that the bind9 service never came up again.
Code:
systemd[1]: Failed to start BIND Domain Name Server.
systemd[1]: bind9.service: Unit entered failed state.
systemd[1]: bind9.service: Failed with result 'timeout'.
In the (bind) error logs everything seems normal. I reinstalled the dns service several times over the plesk installer and over the console. If I reinstall bind over the debian apt install the service starts and works, but no changes from plesk happen to bind. (Because the plesk dns driver is missing).
I think the plesk dns driver doesnt work with this bind version. How can I roll back to the older one?

Thank you for your help!

I removed one repository from my sources.list(rep came from my hoster mirror) where the actual bind9 version came from. And installed the older 1.9.10 version and now it works.
So my problem is solved.
