DNS issues

Ok here is a run down of what I've ran into. My company currently has 2 Plesk servers one being a linux fedora core 2 install and the other being a windows 2003 install.

Currently:

ns1.domain.com is on the linux server
ns2.domain.com is on the windows server

Each server has diffrent domains hosted on it but in there registrar records they have ns1.domain.com and ns2.domain.com listed as there ns servers, this is becoming a big issue when some mail servers do a reverse against there mail and recieve no ptr record from one but sometimes from the other.

I'd like to setup a cenralized dns server that updates itself from the plesk boxes. I setup a windows 2000 server with dns running and I've been able to get the zones to transfer across fine on each box except the reverse zone.. it wants to grab one or the other records but not both which is understandable. I need some insite on what I need to do to resolve this issue. Thanks ahead of time for any ideas.

Here is a link to set up the ptr records coming from 2 different IP's.

I'd think you'd want to have each server being a name server as long as both are on differnt ip networks. This is good for redundancy. If you have one servers DNS or the server go down, the other server can still point to your domains.

Run your domains through www.dnsstuff.com and have it check your mail records, it can point out where you may be having problems.

If it where that easy

Currently our dns servers are both on the same network range x.x.x.2
and x.x.x.3 if the plesk where on diffrent ranges that would be wonderful and I would have the 2000 dns setup and running, but since there on the same range I can't get 2000 dns to pull 2 seperate reverse records and combine them. So I'm trying to find a diffrent solution for out issues and have not yet. Thank you for replying :)hope someone else sees a resolution for this.
