DNS template...Bug or what?

Hi he had changed our DNS template;

it was

webmail.<domain> A <ip>

and we had switched the DNS template webmail address resource record to

webmail.<domain> A 207.15.44.78

but when we do create a new domain the template, this change does not apply on the domains DNS record...instead it creates the domain with the old webmail ip like

webmail.<domain> A 68.15.47.78

which is actually erronous.

are we doing something wrong or is this a 5 year old bug?
