• Please be aware: Kaspersky Anti-Virus has been deprecated
With the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.64, "Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Servers" will be automatically removed from the servers it is installed on. We recommend that you migrate to Sophos Anti-Virus for Servers.
  • The Horde webmail has been deprecated. Its complete removal is scheduled for April 2025. For details and recommended actions, see the Feature and Deprecation Plan.
  • We’re working on enhancing the Monitoring feature in Plesk, and we could really use your expertise! If you’re open to sharing your experiences with server and website monitoring or providing feedback, we’d love to have a one-hour online meeting with you.

Issue DNSBL using reject_rbl_client

LittleMan8

New Pleskian
Hello everyone,
I've recently started using the DNSBL feature of Plesk to decrease the amount of spam my server receives. I'm using two block lists, so reject_rbl_client is inserted into /etc/postfix/main.cf twice.

What I'm noticing is that connections attempts are sometimes blocked and sometimes they are not - although they happen only minutes from each other with the same IP address.

From reading Postfix' man page, it seems the DNSBLs are always checked in the same order (see quote below). So a connection attempt should always result in the same outcome (except when the DNSBL changes, of course).

Do you guys have an explanation for this behavior?

Restrictions are applied in the order as specified; the first restriction that matches wins.
