• Our team is looking to connect with folks who use email services provided by Plesk, or a premium service. If you'd like to be part of the discovery process and share your experiences, we invite you to complete this short screening survey. • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Question e-mail queue

abaum

New Pleskian
Hello,

In the e-mail queue from time to time harmless e-mails of users hang. The documentation does not go into the real reasons. It is recommended to remove the emails from the queue or delete them. What is the difference between removing and deleting? How do I get the affected emails to the recipient or sender?

Greetings Andreas

I suppose you could remove the message from the queue and save it or you could delete the message altogether. That's the only difference.

Depending on your server's configuration, once the outgoing message has been in the queue for too long, the sender will get a notice and the message will get removed from the queue.

As to what might be the cause for messages not getting delivered, there are many possibilities. It's impossible to know without inspecting the logs and seeing the error reported by the recipient's server.

Some of the possible causes: graylisting, IP blacklisting, sender blacklisting, DNS errors, etc..

It might be anything. You might have 5 messages lingering in your queue and all 5 could be stuck because of a different reason. This kind of issues happen daily on mail servers.
