(Easy) guide to SSL for Please Control panel

omega1

New Pleskian
Hello there,

I'm just trialling Plesk, so far so good, thanks to assistance provided here so far.

Is there a relatively simple guide to installing SSL for the Plesk control panel so that users are not greeted with the 'this is not private' message when they navigate to the control panel via https://mydomian:8443

I'm not particularly interested in SSL for any domain, just for the control panel so that it is trusted.

I do not have a great knowledge with SSL and certificates, so some easy steps would sure be appreciated.
- What type of SSL certificate do I need?
- How to go about installing it for the Plesk control panel.

Thank you in advance for any help and suggestions.

Hi @omega1,

You can use the Let's Encrypt extension for this, but you have to create a subscription for the domain. See the link @UFHH01 posted above.
I prefer to get a cheap "Domain Validated" Certificate such as RapidSSL.

If you use the domain mail.domain.tld:8443 to login to Plesk, you can save some cash and reuse the certificate for the mail servers too.
To install, just go to...

Plesk -> Tools & Settings -> SSL Certtificates

once installed click "Secure Plesk"

Regards

Lloyd
