Issue Free space on my server by purging emails

Hi everyone,
I am using plesk on my linux VPS. The storage is almost full and i have to clear the mailbox without deleting emails in order to have more storage capacity.
I tried to delete the folder curl in the email user folder, but still in the plesk page that shows the storage occupation of the mailboxs, nothing change.
Please help. it's urgent to me.
